Psychotherapy (Counselling) Services

What is Psychotherapy?

It's a word people hear often but don't always feel they fully understand — so here's a plain explanation.

Psychotherapy is a structured, confidential conversation between a person and a trained therapist, aimed at understanding and easing emotional or psychological difficulties. It's a purposeful process: the therapist uses recognised and valid approaches to help someone make sense of how they think, feel and behave, and to find healthier ways forward.

People come to psychotherapy for all sorts of reasons — anxiety, low mood, trauma, grief, relationship struggles, or simply a sense of being stuck.

There's no "right" reason and no threshold of distress you need to reach before it's worthwhile. Some people want short-term, focused work on a specific issue; others value longer-term support to explore deeper patterns.

What makes it effective isn't advice giving. It's the relationship itself: a safe, non-judgemental space where someone feels genuinely heard, often for the first time. From that foundation, real change becomes possible.
